"I’m Jason and I live on the beautiful Channel Island of Guernsey, which is the perfect place for my running obsession. I am equally passionate about mental health (I’m a qualified Mental Health First Aider) and this is why I became involved with Red Balloons as it brings both of these things together.
My mental health was poor in my late 20’s when everything seemed to fall apart. My marriage broke down at the same time as having to work incredibly long hours, and being a typical man, I didn’t talk to anyone about it. Add social anxieties to the mix and I was left feeling isolated. As I’ve got older I have realised that my relationships with people are actually what makes life, which I find very strange for an introvert. Men are notoriously bad at talking and my aim is for everyone to be able to answer “How are you?” with “Actually not so good” if that’s how they are feeling.
I have 3 grown up children which has given me the experience to use in my other volunteering role with HomeStart, supporting families with a wide range of parenting challenges.
I am really excited about the direction that Red Balloons is going and can’t wait to see what the future holds."
